Happiness is what everyone is seeking for, but the majority seeks in things, which are evanescent and not real. No happiness was ever found in the senses or in enjoyment of senses. Happiness is found only in the spirit. We the immortal, the ever pure, the perfect spirit, think we are little minds and we are little bodies. It is the mother of all selfishness. As soon as I think I am a little body, I want to preserve it, to protect it, to keep it nice, at the expense of other bodies. If a small fraction part of the human beings living today can put aside the idea of selfishness, narrowness and littleness, this earth will become a paradise.

Common prudent human beings think that the purpose of our existence is to seek happiness, it seems like common sense. But isn’t life based on seeking personal happiness by nature self centered, even self-indulgent?

Not necessarily, in fact survey after survey has shown that it is unhappy people who tend to be most self focused and are often socially withdrawn, brooding and even antagonistic (aggressive). Happy people on contrast are generally found to be more sociable, flexible, creative and are able to tolerate life’s daily frustrations more easily than unhappy people.

The turning towards happiness as a valid goal and the conscious decision to seek happiness in a systematic manner can profoundly change the rest of our lives.

What is Heaven?

Heaven is the idea of happiness minus unhappiness. We want joys of this life minus sorrows. Naturally this is a good idea, but there is no such thing as absolutely good or as such thing as absolutely evil. For example there was a rich man in America who one day learnt from his accountant that he has only one million dollar left of his property. He thought, “What will he do tomorrow?” and therefore committed suicide. A million dollars were poverty to him.

What is joy and what is happiness?

These are relative terms. Joy for one may be sorrow for the other. Everyone’s idea of pleasure and sorrow is different. Our pleasures and sorrows are always changing. It changes with the change of our necessities.

Modern medicine and Healthy Life: –

The skills of modern medicine are amazing. The miracles of healing performed by modern medicine are astounding. But the time has come when modern medicine must take a step forward. Doctors must find a way of treating the whole human being. Modern medicine takes care only of the body like a machine, which can be repaired when it goes out of order. Man is a composite being built of body, mind and soul. Each one of us is essentially a soul. If the soul is sick, do whatever you do to the body, it will keep on moving from one sickness to another. We need to treat the whole human being.
