SELF-AWARENESS

SELF-AWARENESS: –

Life is a Challenging Journey. So Challenge we must meet and Journey we must complete. Every time a challenge comes in one’s life, whether it is about family, job, friends, personal relationships etc., one has to be aware of the following stages of awareness.

Stage 1. AWARENESS OF HOPE AND FEAR:

Your desires are dissatisfied; something you want is meeting with opposition. There is underlying hope and fear. Your mind does not know what action to take. Every action has its consequences good or bad. There is big confusion in the mind. One gets frustrated and sometimes anger takes charge. Lot of energy is lost in thoughtlessness and one gets exhausted. The more one struggles to get free of a problem, the more he/she is trapped in to it.

Stage 2. AWARENESS OF MID WAY BETWEEN HOPE AND FEAR:

Now one is tired, taken deep breath, sitting down calmly and started rationalizing the ideas of hope and fear. Your vision extends beyond the conflict, giving you more clarity. With clear vision, you no longer feel confused. The need to struggle begins to diminish. You start to let go. You approach decisions with confidence. You meet fear realistically and it starts to lessen. You can tell that you have reached this level of awareness when you no longer feel stuck. A process has begun. With greater expansion, unforeseen forces come to your aid. You move forward according to what you desire from your life. If one rationalizes the situation further, he/she will find that following questions come in to one’s mind.

  1. Why do I perceive the whole situation in negative way?
  2. Why do I assume certain things and do not look in to facts?
  3. Why do I expect certain things from other people? One should know that positive expectations are ruled by hope and negative expectationsare ruled by fear.
  4. Why do I disguise my feelings? Being emotional is equated with being out of control; which itself is an undesirable feeling.

Stage 3. SELF-AWARENESS:

This is the stage where no problem exists. Every challenge is a creative opportunity. You feel completely aligned with the forces of nature. The outer world reflects what is happening in your inner world. You feel completely safe and at home in the universe. This is the spiritual level. Now is the time to take some positive action.

WHAT IS LOVE

WHAT IS LOVE: – (in a story form)

A woman came out of her house and saw 3 old men with long white beards sitting in her front yard. She did not recognize them. She said, “I don’t think I know you, but you must be hungry. Please come in and have something to eat.”

“Is the man of the house home?” they asked.

“No”, she replied. “He’s out.”

“Then we cannot come in”, they replied.

In the evening when her husband came home, she told him what had happened.

“Go tell them I am home and invite them in!” The woman went out and invited the men in.

“We do not go into a House together,” they replied.

“Why is that?” she asked.

One of the old men explained: “His name is Wealth,” he said pointing to one of his friends, and said pointing to another one, “He is Success, and I am Love.” Then he added, “Now go in and discuss with your husband which one of us you want in your home.”

The woman went in and told her husband what was said. Her husband was overjoyed. “How nice!!” he said. “Since that is the case, let us invite Wealth. Let him come and fill our home with wealth!”

His wife disagreed. “My dear, why don’t we invite Success?”

Their daughter-in-law was listening from the other corner of the house. She jumped in with her own suggestion: “Would it not be better to invite Love? Our home will then be filled with love!”

“Let us heed our daughter-in-law’s advice,” said the husband to his wife. “Go out and invite Love to be our guest.”

The woman went out and asked the 3 old men, “Which one of you is Love? Please come in and be our guest.”

Love got up and started walking toward the house. The other 2 also got up and followed him.

Surprised, the lady asked Wealth and Success: “I only invited Love, Why are you coming in?”

The old men replied together: “If you had invited Wealth or Success, thE other two of us would’ve stayed out, but since you invited Love, wherever He goes, we go with him. Wher- ever there is Love, there is also Wealth and Success!”

Therefore Love is the strength that gives you life.

When you receive love you loose fear and you can give the best in you. The practical form of love is respect. Respect means acceptance of the fact that we are all different and unique and at the same time, we all have something im- portant and valuable to share.

The power of love is the greatest power on earth. When you open your heart with sincerity, anyone with you will be moved to a level of feeling, much deeper

and purer than the level of thinking.

ADVERSITY

ADVERSITY

A daughter complained to her father about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved, a new one arose.

Her father, a chef, took her to the kitchen. He filled three pots with water and placed each on high fire. Soon the pots came to a boil. In one he placed carrots, in the second he placed eggs, and the last he placed ground coffee beans. He let them sit and boil without saying a word.

The daughter sucked her teeth and impatiently waited, wondering what he was doing. In about twenty minutes he turned off the burners. He fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. He pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Then he ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl.

Turning to her he asked. “Darling, what do you see. “? “Carrots, Eggs, and Coffee” she replied.

He brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did and noted that they were soft. He then asked her to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard-boiled egg. Finally, he asked her to sip the coffee. She smiled, as she tasted its rich aroma.

She humbly asked, “What does it mean father?”

He explained that each of them had faced the same adversity, boiling water, but each reacted differently.

The carrot went in strong, hard and unrelenting. But after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak.

The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior. But after sitting through the boiling water, its inside became hardened.

The ground coffee beans were unique however. After they were in the boiling water, they had changed the water.

“Which are you?” he asked his daughter, “when adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg, or a coffee bean?”

How about you?
Are you the carrot
that seems hard, but with pain and adversity do you wilt

and become soft and loose your strength?

Are you the egg, which starts off with a malleable heart? Were you a fluid spirit, but after a death, a breakup, or a layoff have you become hardened and stiff. Your shell looks the same, but are you bitter and tough with a stiff spirit and heart?

Or are you like the coffee bean? The bean changes the hot water; the thing that is bringing the pain, to its peak flavor reaches 212 degrees Fahrenheit. When the water gets the hottest, it just tastes better and makes things better around you.

How do you handle adversity? Are you a carrot, an egg, or a coffee bean?

BE IN THE PRESENT

BE IN THE PRESENT:

When we are young, we had the enthusiasm of youth, and enthusiasm for the future, it may be education, it may be just sports, it may be carrier or it may be marriage. Now a days we are talking about nothing else but our future, saving money for future, postponing our enjoyment for future, buying books for reading tomorrow or the day-after – but nothing to be done in the present.

Today we are doing a lot of space travel. We are travelling in airplanes, in cars, in faster trains etc., but getting nowhere. The same grind, round and round and monotonous. Soul killing. Then what is this future that we are thinking of, when we do not have even the present in our grip. If I am not alive in the present then what am I going to do in future, I will be dead.

Even the religion does not point in the right direction. It is pointing some- where or at least we imagine that it is pointing somewhere up, far away in the Christian heaven, the Nirvana of the Buddhists, the heaven of Islam. But if it is there, then what are we doing here. So Spirituality seeks to prove to you by experience that, this wonderful abode of the divine, where neither the sun shines nor the moon, nor the wind blows, where there is neither light nor dark- ness, where there is no day no night, there HE (GOD) exists. That must be the only place inside you, your heart and your soul.

SPIRITUALITY says, dear friends live in the present, forget heaven, forget hell – neither exists. If it exists, it is right where you are; you don’t have to go to it. It is there in you right now. Then what are you looking for? What are

you searching for? Realize it, turn inside, and see that divine abode of GOD. Again to repeat, there is no sun, no moon, no wind, no shine, no light, no dark- ness, no day and no night. What can it be? EXPERIENCE IT INSIDE YOU, but you do not feel it, because you are trying to see something you like, but you cannot see.

All we have to give up is our obsession with our desires, whether it is for fame or name or possession of wealth or even to do good to the others. Because there is rarely a person, who wants to do good to others for the sake of the one for whom he is doing the good. They always do well for themselves. A person is charitable because one expects to go to heaven. If you tell that char- itable person that you are going to hell, he would run away from the charity. Some wise man has said, “Not for the sake of the other am I good, but for the sake of myself”. They imagine that they are doing good to others in the des- perate hope of doing something good to themselves, because they don’t know any other way of doing good to themselves.

COSMIC CONUNDRUM: –

Given that we haven’t found any life beyond earth yet, “Remarkably hos- pitable’ may sound a bit strong, though it is true. Many of the most funda- mental characteristics of our cosmos – the relative strengths of gravity, electromagnetism, and the forces that operate inside atomic nuclei as well as the masses and relative abundance of different particles – are so finely tuned that if just one of them were even slightly different, life as we know it couldn’t exist. The proposition that the cosmos is – against all odds – perfectly tuned for life is known as the anthropic principle.

A vocal sector of the religious community, on the other hand, has seized on the anthropic principle as further evidence that GOD created the universe just for us. – Adding intellectual support to the so-called intelligent design movement, which believes that the staggering complexity of nature can be ex- plained only by assuming that some higher intelligence had a hand in designing it. Over the past several years pitched battles have been fought in school boards in United states over whether to give intelligent design and Darwin’s theory equal time in classrooms.

It does not matter whether the anthropic principle makes us happy. What mat- ters is whether it is true – that is, whether cosmic numbers really are as arbitrary

as they seem. If they are not; physics may eventually succeed in explaining many features of our world that seem so puzzling today. And if the anthropic principle is true? Well, then the universe will seem even more energetic and decorative than before.

Over and over in our history, natural phenomena – lightning, the changing of the seasons, the nature of the sun and moon – have been explained simply by saying GOD did it, only to have that explanation fall away as science provided a more satisfying answer. May be we have really reached the limits of intellectual understanding, but few scientists are willing to give up quite yet, even on seem- ingly intractable problems. To Einstein’s celebrated thinking about whether GOD had choice in creating the universe, the answer seems to be a resounding Yes; all sorts of universes are possible. Belief in multiple universes is just as much a matter of faith as any other religious belief. On belief’s that seem to imply we are special – that we at the center of the solar system or the center of the galaxy, or that the Milky Way is the only galaxy in the universe. Every time it turned out that we were not special after all. We just did not have enough knowledge.
